Celebrity dad Ed Sheeran releases his first song since becoming a father.

On early Monday morning, the celebrity dad and singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, released his first song called "Afterglow" after being a father. He released the song, "Afterglow", with a performance video.

The first song that Ed Sheeran released after being a dad is filmed in one continuous shot. The video finds the celebrity dad and singer crooning about love on the track, his first song after welcoming his baby girl, Lyra Antarctica, with his wife Cherry Seaborn in August.

First song: Afterglow

In his first song, "Afterglow", Ed Sheeran sings, "We were love drunk waiting on a miracle. Trying to find ourselves in the winter snow. So alone in love like the world had disappeared. Oh I won't be silent and I won't let go. I will hold in tighter 'til the afterglow".

The celebrity dad and singer's new song, which also serves as his first song to release since his No. 6 Collaborations Project in 2019, was co-written by the British artist with David Hodges and FRED. The latter also produced the track together with Ed Sheeran while co-production came from Parisi.

On his social media account

Aside from this, the now celebrity dad also shared news about "Afterglow" on Instagram on Monday. He posted a clip of a performance video right after he released the song. Ed Sheeran wrote to his fans that his new tune is a song that he wrote last year that he wanted to release for his fans and listeners.

The British singer revealed that "Afterglow" is not the first song from his next album. Instead, the song is simply a song that he wrote and loves, in which he hopes that his fans will love and enjoy it too. He then greeted everyone with a safe and happy festive break and New Year's, and ended it while saying, "Back to dad land for me now, ciao x."

Just before releasing the song

Before its release, Ed Sheeran teased his fans when he wrote "11am GMT tomorrow. A Christmas present", on his social media with the song's cover art.

Although the singer did not get into any specifics and did not go along further about what people should expect from the song, Ed Sheeran seemingly offered up another clue on his Instagram story.

He said that the surprise would be the release of a new song. In the short video and snippet, the celebrity dad could be seen sitting down while holding his precious guitar.

Taking a break

The release of his song, "Afterglow" came after he announced last December that he will be taking a break from music and social media.

At that time, Ed Sheeran said that the Divide era, his last album, and tour changed his life in so many ways. And now that it is all over, it is time to go out and see some more of the world.

The singer and now celebrity dad said that he had been a bit nonstop ever since 2017 and wanted to take a breather to travel, write and read.

He then thanked his fans for always being amazing and promised to come back with new music when the time is right and when he had lived a little more to actually have something to write about.

The fans are rejoicing

For Ed Sheeran's fans, maybe this is the right time.

As for Ed Sheeran and his wife, they revealed that they are completely in love with their daughter. The singer and celebrity dad once again wishes that people can respect their privacy this time, and sends everyone lots of love.
