Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik Split: Model's Dad Breaks Silence As Yolanda Hadid Files Charges

Mohamed Hadid, the father of model Gigi Hadid, has publicly stated that he is proud of his daughter amid her recent controversy with Zayn Malik, the father of her baby, and Yolanda Hadid, the model's mom.

According to The Sun, Mohamed shared some red carpet photos of his oldest daughter and wrote in the caption that he "simply loves" Gigi. He also said that he's "so proud" to be her father and grandfather to Khai, Gigi's first child with Malik.

The show of support comes as Gigi and Malik have reportedly ended their nearly six years of relationship after he allegedly assaulted Yolanda, Mohamed's ex-partner, during an altercation in September. TMZ first broke the news of the domestic violence, citing sources that Malik "struck" his girlfriend's mother.

Court Documents Detailed Zayn Malik's Assault

Though Malik has denied Yolanda's claims and hoped that she would take back the "false accusations," court documents revealed that the former One Direction singer has been charged with four criminal offenses for "causing mental anguish and physical pain," shoving, swearing and shouting at Yolanda.

Per Us Weekly, Malik also warned Gigi's mom to stay away from his 13-month-old daughter. When things got even heated, Malik allegedly told Gigi to defend him against Yolanda, who was not invited into their house in Pennsylvania.

Malik did not contest the charges filed by Yolanda and paid up the fines in court. The singer was also placed on probation for 360 days or 90 days for each of the four criminal offenses.

The court has also ordered Malik to go on anger management and domestic violence program, and he has been barred from contacting Yolanda or the security guard who tried to break up the fight. The singer's case will be reviewed after six months.

Malik previously stated that he was not going to say anything against Yolanda in the press for the sake of his daughter with Gigi. He said that this was a private family matter, that should have stayed within themselves, but someone has been "leaking" the details to the media.

Focused on Khai

Meanwhile, sources close to Gigi said that the model is solely focused on her daughter following the split. The ex-couple has been going through some problems in their on-and-off relationship but they have agreed to co-parent Khai.

Friends also described Gigi's relationship with Malik as "super toxic." A source told People that the crooner has a complicated personality and is very hard to live with, thus raising concerns from Yolanda.

However, another source said that Gigi and Malik are not fighting even if they are no longer together. Yolanda, however, has been "inserting herself" in situations that should only be for the co-parents to decide.

In July, Gigi told Harper's Bazaar that Malik has gotten quite comfortable around her family and could even side with Yolanda during family discussions.

"He speaks his mind," Gigi said. When he's in the middle of a family thing and everyone's like, 'Zayn, whose side are you on?'" the model added, saying her partner is smart to agree with her mother.
