After six children, celebrity father James Van Der Beek has learned the art of calming down a crying baby with a trick he cleverly shared with his fans and followers on social media.

The actor, who recently welcomed a new baby with his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, said that his trick is to remember the words in the acronym CALLLM -- with three Ls. He said it's "one of the greatest lessons" he has learned about control after looking after all of his kids. He then explained the meaning of each acronym in the video post.

C stands for "Connection," which includes a lot of smiling, laughing, and even crying. The actor said that parents have to remember that they need to show their kids "you're able to be there." A means "Acceptance" because acknowledging a crying baby can give parents more feeling of peace.

The three Ls, on the other hand, means "Love," "Listen," and "List." Love doesn't need any explanation because that's what parents should feel for their children. Listen means looking at cues and understanding what the baby is trying to say with those tears. When parents listen to their babies, they can make a mental list of what should be done.

M means "Magic," which is different for every parent. James said that it could be a song or how a parent rocks the baby to sleep that can do the trick.

Baby #6's Surprise Birth

In late November 2021, James and Kimberly revealed that they welcomed their sixth child, Jeremiah Van Der Beek, after two miscarriages. The happy father's fans were surprised since they never said that they were expecting.

James said, however, that they specifically kept this pregnancy quiet because they lost two babies in a row in November 2019 and June 2020. Both were late-term pregnancies due to Kimberly's "incompetent cervix."

The actor said he was terrified when he found out that they were having another baby again. However, with the help of a "surgical cerclage," Kimberly was able to carry the pregnancy to term, and she gave birth naturally as well. Following the miscarriages, the Van Der Beeks worked with the American Red Cross to help encourage blood donations, saving Kimberly's life.

Who are James Van Der Beek's Kids?

As a proud father of six, James said that all of his kids bring "their own energy, their own manifestation of consciousness, their own lessons" while the two babies they've lost were still gifts and part of their family's puzzle pieces.

In late 2010, James and Kimberly became first-time parents to Olivia, who was named for the olive trees in Israel that were very special to her parents. By March 2012, the couple had their second child, Joshua, whom his mother described as an "outspoken and funny" child.

The Van Der Beeks then had Annabel in 2014 and another girl, Emilia, a year later, who is "the queen" of their household. In 2018, the couple once again had another daughter, Gwendolyn, who has developed her love for songs by Miley Cyrus early on.

James said that he lives for the "disruption" his kids bring to his life. The father said that while it was sad to explain the baby losses to their kids, the parents tried their best to be honest and told them the "basic facts" of what happened to their mother's pregnancy.
