Rapper superstar Megan Thee Stallion received a rousing cheer from the audience as she got up on stage to finally graduate and receive her diploma for health administration at Texas Southern University.

The 26-year-old star, who is Megan Pete in real life, attended the graduation rites wearing the traditional gown and cap and shared photos of her latest milestone on Instagram. She wrote in the caption that her parents, who are both deceased, are likely looking down on her with pride.

According to reports, the rapper's mother, Holly Thomas, died in 2019 due to a brain tumor. On the other hand, her father died several years ago when Megan was just 15 years old.

For Her Mother and Grandmother

In an interview with People in 2020, Megan revealed that she was taking an online course at Texas Southern University while juggling work. Megan aimed to graduate the next year and said she wanted to pursue a college degree for her mother.

"I want my big mama to be proud," Megan said. "She saw me going to school before she passed."

The rapper also shared that her grandmother was a former teacher who never stopped convincing her to earn a college degree. After her mother's death, Megan also lost her grandmother, so the goal to finish school has become very personal for her as she wanted to fulfill her promise to these two amazing women in her life.

Megan said that both her mother and grandmother were hard workers who got up to work every single day when they were still able to. The hard work produced good things for her family, as her mother was able to own three houses by the time she had grown children.

The rapper said that she never noticed they were struggling financially with her mother as the sole provider since her father's death. She also acknowledged the support and inspiration of her grandmother.

Megan said that she wants to become a hospital administrator and perhaps open an assisted-living facility with the money she has earned from her rap music. She plans to hire her college classmates.

While she said that college could be a source of "a lot of stress," Megan said she isn't easily discouraged because she has her eye on her goal. She had to make many adjustments in her classes to complete college, and all that effort finally paid off.

Humanitarian Award from Her District

Aside from earning her college diploma, Megan was also given the 18th Congressional District Humanitarian Award. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony, bestowed the award to the rapper.

Megan Thee Stallion shot to fame in early 2018 and produced an album titled "Good News," that made it to the top 100 at Billboard in 2020. As a music artist, Megan has already worked with Beyonce, Arianna Grande, and Cardi B in her short, successful career.

Though her image and music verge on the sexy and provocative, Megan said that her packaging as an artist is all about confidence as there hasn't been a female rapper like her.
