"Baby Shark" and "Blue's Clues," two popular children's entertainment features, are set to get a movie treatment for the streaming platform Paramount+ in 2023.

Nickelodeon Animation has collaborated with Pinkfong for the "Baby Shark" movie. While details of the movie's plot and its specific release date have not yet come out, Paramount+ confirmed it would be part of its children's streaming content, alongside "Blue's Clues," according to Deadline.

On the other hand, the movie version of "Blue's Clues" will bring back all of the hosts of the children's series Steve (Steve Burns), Joe (Donovan Patton), and Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz) as they travel with Blue to New York City. Blue will try to get a part at a musical on Broadway.

The Popularity of "Baby Shark"

Pinkfong, a South Korean education and entertainment channel on YouTube, uploaded the "Baby Shark" video in 2016 for its young viewers. It soon became viral as kids loved dancing to the song, which became an earworm for the adults.

"Baby Shark" triggered a dance craze and a cultural phenomenon in Indonesia in 2017, and dance challenges to the song went viral on TikTok. In 2019, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at number 32.

New York Times reported that the song was inspired by a camp singalong and became popular because it has a repetitive and simple melody that appeals to children. Aside from its viral and Billboard success, the share price of Samsung Publishing, a major shareholder for Pinkfong, also increased. In 2022, the "Baby Shark" YouTube video achieved 10 billion views, becoming the most-watched content on the platform.

"Blue's Clues" Movie Compared to "Spider-Man: No Way Home"

After Paramount+ released the first photo for the "Blue's Clues" movie, fans could not help but compare the film to Marvel's "Spider-Man: No Way Home." Like the superhero film that brought back all three Spider-Man actors, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, the "Blue's Clues" movie also has three hosts who carried the series at different phases.

"Blue's Clues" premiered in the mid-1990s as a children's show for Nick Jr. Steve was the original host until he departed the show in 2002 to pursue other interests. Joe, introduced as Steve's brother, took over for a couple of seasons until Nick Jr. shut down. In 2019, Nickelodeon revived "Blue's Clues" as "Blue's Clues & You" with Josh, the cousin of Steve and Joe.

Nickelodeon Succeeds With Kids

Brian Robbins, the chief of content for Paramount+, said that Nickelodeon has always had much success with its very young audience, and in building the streaming platform, they've realized that their biggest audience is the children. Thus, Paramount+ is doubling its children's content and expanding the stories of well-loved characters that even the parents enjoy watching.

Aside from "Baby Shark" and "Blue's Clues," Paramount+ is also coming up with new kid-friendly content featuring "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Dora the Explorer," and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
