A baby whose birth weight is as heavy as a mid-weight bowling bowl was born to a mother in the United Kingdom. According to a report in the Epoch Times, Helen Sellers, a mom of two, gave birth to a daughter named Celia, who weighed 11lb and 5oz or more than 5 kilograms, which astounded the midwives.

According to Sellers' midwife, Celia is the second biggest baby she delivered in her 16 years as a midwife. Helen is a mental health nurse and her first child, Roman, weighed 9 pounds or a little over 4 kilograms when he was born three years ago. Meanwhile, Helen and her husband Carl were both under 9 pounds when they were born.

"Quite big"

Although Carl is 6 foot 7 inches, he was not a big baby. This makes the couple wonder why Celia is such a giant baby. According to Mirror, while pregnant, Hellen Sellers was already warned by her doctor that her baby might be pretty big. People often asked Helen if she expected twins since she sported quite a massive baby bump.

One of Helen's co-workers has asked her several times if she wasn't expecting twins. Her doctor also told her that the baby would be significant but not as big as her big brother. The doctors also checked her for gestational diabetes due to her baby bump's size, but the result was negative.

Impressive Size

After Celia was born, she was the talk of the hospital ward, and many wanted to see her because of her size. She made quite an impression among the midwives in the hospital. At 11lbs and 5oz at birth, the baby is one of the biggest babies ever delivered by Helen's midwife. The other midwives had various reactions due to Celia's weight and laughed because Celia was huge. Helen was glad that she had a C-section instead of her initial plan of trying natural delivery because she's not quite sure whether Celia would have come out.

Small Baby Clothes

Helen's family played "Guess the weight of the baby" before she gave birth. Her cousin guessed that the child would weigh about 11lbs. Although she said her cousin was being "cheeky," she did not expect Celia to be that big.

The mom-of-two from Leeds, Yorkshire, said that Celia went immediately to 0-3 clothes because she does not fit newborn clothes. Helen had some clothes for up to a month, but she did not bother taking them out of the package anymore because she was sure they wouldn't fit Celia. At present, the baby is now wearing 3 to 6-month clothes.

According to the Guinness World Records, the heaviest birth was recorded in 1879. A baby boy weighing 22lbs. and with a length of 28 inches was born to the "Tallest Married Couple Ever" Canadian giant Anna Haining Bates nee Swan, who measured seven ft. 11 in. and husband, Martin Van Buren Bates.
