A woman from Illinois shared the fascinating story of how she got married to the best man at her first wedding after he declared that he had "always loved her" during his drunken wedding speech.

Desiree White and Bryant White have known each other since high school. They formed a fun trio with another guy, Bryant's best friend, and would later become Desiree's first husband.

When she had her grand wedding in 2010, she was not expecting that Bryant would profess his true feelings for her in front of 200 guests. According to Daily Mail, Bryant admitted that he "wanted her to be his" the first time they met. He declared this while Desiree was sitting next to her new husband at their wedding reception.

Desiree never forgot that best man's speech, but she had to brush aside Bryant's confession as she started her new life as someone else's wife. However, a year into her first marriage, Desiree learned of her husband's cheating ways, which prompted her to file for a divorce. As her marriage ended, Bryant was there to offer a shoulder to cry on.

Their Time in High School

Desiree, then 16, was already dating the other guy when she first met Bryant in class. She would later introduce Bryant to her boyfriend and they would hit it off instantly. Apparently, they already knew each other from another class.

Eventually, Desiree, her boyfriend, and Bryant would start hanging out a lot together. She would even set-up Bryant, who was never lucky in love in high school, with some of her friends so they could double date.

According to Desiree, Bryant was not the guy she'd likely date in high school as he had "a lot of growing up to do." However, on the day of her wedding, Desiree vividly recalled a fleeting moment where Bryant looked at her in the most meaningful way before she walked down the aisle.

At the wedding reception, Desiree and Bryant shared a dance after his speech. While still tipsy from the alcohol, Bryant asked her why she never gave him a chance.

"I asked him what he meant," Desiree said, per the New York Post. "He said, 'Nothing. I love you, I love [White's ex-husband].' Then he got quiet." In her mind, Desiree believed that Bryant was drunk and lonely so he said those words to her.

Their New Life as Husband and Wife

After her first marriage crumbled, Desiree's friendship with Bryant strengthened as he became her emotional support. She also learned from Bryant that her husband was being unfaithful when they were still dating in high school, according to The Sun.

One day, while they were hanging out, Bryant kissed Desiree and she didn't stop him and their friendship immediately turned romantic. Within a year of their new relationship, Desiree was pregnant with their first child. After getting married in 2012, Desiree and Bryant had three more children.

Desiree said that because she and her husband were long-time friends first, their relationship was a lot easier when they became a married couple. It was a life she didn't expect but Desiree said she loves being Bryant's partner and mom to their four boys.
