A dad with a nappy fetish has not been allowed by the courts to see his children after their mother grew concerned that he was been wearing adult diapers around his home.

The father was not legally named in public, as per court rules, but his ex-wife said the nappy fetish has been a part of his life for some time. In recent years, however, his obsession intensified as their kids are growing up.

According to Daily Mail, the mother filed against the father with the Family Court of Australia because she feared her ex-husband's behavior would have a negative effect on the kids. The dad with a nappy fetish does not want to see a counselor to address this issue.

Exposing the Kids to this Unusual Lifestyle

The former couple was in a relationship in the early 2000s and the ex-wife was aware of this fetish from the start. When they decided to split up, the two agreed to be co-parents for as long as the father doesn't expose his kids to this unusual lifestyle.

However, in 2019, the mother said that her ex-husband picked up the children at her house and saw that he had his adult diapers "partially exposed." The mother also learned that her ex-husband has found a new partner in life who had the same nappy fetish, per Daily Telegraph.

Thus, the mom decided to take legal action as this was a violation of her agreement with the father. The court sided with the mother but the dad appealed the decision in 2021. By April 2022, the appeal from the High Court was once again rejected.

According to Justice Hilary Hannan, she decided to ban the father from seeing his kids because he could not provide a satisfactory explanation as to why his fetish is not a risk to his children's psyche. However, the father said that the judge's decision was discriminatory to the Adult Baby-Diaper Lover (ABDL) community, a minority group.

The ABDL community has been around for more than 25 years. It started in San Francisco but has since expanded into the online world with at least 15,000 members. For some members, wearing adult diapers was due to a medical need but for many ABDL, it's enjoyment and comfort.

Is ABDL a Psychological Problem?

A study on the Adult Baby-Diaper Lover culture, published in the journal Environmental Research and Public Health, aimed to highlight that nappy fetish could be linked to psychological maladjustment or parental rejection in childhood. The experts learned from the participants of the study, conducted in 2020 among Italian subjects, that adults with nappy fetish manifested anxiety and had memories of parental rejection.

However, some adults with ABDL may be into a fetish for pleasure and relaxation, with none of the depressive traits or psychological distress present. In fact, some adults with ABDL may only be active in online communities and do not often act out their fantasies in actual life.

Research into this type of behavior is scarce but the experts recommended psychological counseling regardless of the type of ABDL.
