Allegheny County police announced that a McKees Rocks grandmother is wanted and still at large in connection with the suspected drug overdose of her 10-month-old grandson, according to WTAE.

The cops said she took off during the incident as McKees Rocks police and paramedics treated the unresponsive baby using Naloxone, a medicine typically given for drug overdoses.

Lt. Venerando Costa, a member of the county police homicide unit, said on Monday, August 1, that as officers and medics were treating the baby, the grandmother slipped and walked away from the scene.

Charges filed against Boyer, including aggravated assault

Police said Robbie Elizabeth Boyer faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Cops, using a search warrant, said they found suspected drugs, as well as glass pipes, stamp bags, and syringes, in the suspect's home and her car.

Costa said their investigation showed that the child's grandmother was the person solely responsible for the kid. He added that they conducted a search warrant at the residence and found heroin or fentanyl. They are still awaiting the lab results for that.

Someone was performing CPR on the baby as paramedics arrived. According to Costa, paramedics started life-saving measures and gave the baby Naloxone, which is typically given for heroin or fentanyl overdoses.

The kid responded to that treatment and was taken to Children's Hospital. Doctors treated him while he was there, with the baby soon regaining consciousness. The child is now in stable condition, according to iHeart.

Police asking anyone with information on suspect's whereabouts to call tip line

Costa said police had other cases of kids coming into contact with drugs suspected of being used around them. He added that it goes back to the drugs stored or used in the home. He explained that a child coming into contact with a surface the drug was recently on can be exposed to it and have an overdose.

Security camera video showed police and medics carrying the 10-month-old from the grandmother's home to an ambulance in critical condition at the time. Around that time, the 47-year-old Boyer walked around the back of her home and left the area. She did not take her vehicle. Police said the call came in for an unresponsive baby just before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Neighbor Tim Farley said he has been living in McKees Rocks for 34 years, his entire life, and as years go by, the crime and the lowness get elevated. He added that this is not surprising to him, but it is disgusting to him. Farley noted that something needs to change in this community.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a thin build, with Boyer having ties to the McKees Rocks area. County police ask that anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts call their tip line at 1-833-255-8477, according to Patch. Callers can remain anonymous when providing info.
