Mom Immune to Birth Control Has 11 Sons and a Daughter, Prepares Birth of 13th Baby

A family with 11 sons and one daughter is preparing to welcome their 13th child in mid-August 2022, who will be the second girl in the family.

Alexis Brett, 42, swears that she and her husband, David Brett, 47, did not set out to have many children in the hopes of finally having a girl. However, Alexis said in jest, in an exclusive with The Mirror, that she might be "immune" to most types of birth control. The thought of sterilization is slowly appealing to her.

The mother has been pregnant for the last two decades with children ranging from 20 years old to a year old. With 11 sons very close in ages, Alexis said that she actually couldn't stand the mess her boys leave so she painstakingly cleans up after them as a stay-at-home parent. Thankfully, her husband is also hands-on with the children and has recently retired from his job as a train driver. The family lives in Scotland.

Who are the Brett couple's children?

Campbell, Harrison, Corey, Lachlan and Brodie are in their early adulthood and teenage years while Brahn, Hunter and Mack are the older school kids. Blake, Rothagaidh, Cameron and Orran are under 5 years old. Cameron, the 11th child, is their only daughter, whom they welcomed in 2019.

Alexis said she was dumbfounded to learn that they were finally having a daughter. She told 7 News that she really believed they were not "capable of making a girl." But when she got pregnant with Cameron, they decided to try this gender reveal trend and thought the result was a mistake.

The mom said that she would have loved another boy just the same but having her first baby girl was a thrill. In the beginning Cameron, Alexis and David felt like they were doing this parenting thing for the first time.

"It feels very surreal to open the wardrobe and see little pink babygrows and dresses," the mom said.

At that time, Alexis insisted that Cameron was their last but they welcomed Orran, their 12th, in 2021. The baby was born at 26 weeks and had to stay at the hospital for at least six weeks.

Meanwhile, as the family awaits baby number 13, Alexis has been relying on her older boys for help around the house. She told the New York Post that Harrison drives her for errands since she cannot drive.

Mom of 12 has been pregnant for 16 years straight

Meanwhile, in California, mom Iris Purnell has also given birth successively in the last two decades. She had 12 children between 2004 to 2019 but she and her husband decided to have her tubes tied after having their last baby, Hope, who is now 3 years old.

Speaking with Today, Purnell said her husband worried that something might happen to her if she gets pregnant again and believes that her body needs to rest, especially since she's nearing her 40s. She first became pregnant at 21 years old. The mother said that has come to terms with the fact that she will not be giving birth anymore.
