Tweens, a child between the ages of 9 and 12, always search for something that will make them busy. Some tweens prefer staying in bed all day which doesn't benefit them. Keep the tweens entertained with these fun and easy DIY crafts, per Childhood 101.

Some tweens think they are too old for camp or too young to get a job, so they look for something else that would grab their interests. Thus, encourage your child to participate and make one of these DIY crafts. Grab the materials and supplies needed and have some fun.

Keychains with Perler Beads

To make this craft, you will need Perler beads (depending on how many keychains you're trying to make,) peg boards, key chains, iron, and nail for making the key chain hole. Perler beads are tiny small plastic beads used to create a design on a peg board. Iron them to fuse the beads. The beads come with special paper to put over the beads when you finally iron them so it won't damage your iron at all.

Crepe Paper Flower Bracelet

Young ones might need assistance making the tissue paper flower but can add the beads on their own. On the other hand, older children should be able to do this independently. Materials needed are simple tissue paper (depending on preferred color), single hole punch, scissors, pipe cleaner, and beads (optional). Stack the small sheets of tissue paper together to determine how your flower looks. This craft is more fun to experiment with different patterns of colors. Hold the stack together and cut out a small circle. Punch two holes in the center of the circles. Take the pipe cleaner and put one end through each punched circle. Now it's time to make your tissue paper flower. Gently separate the top layer of the paper and crumple it a bit; afterward, you can design the flower the way you want.

Amazing Yarn Painting

This is one of the easiest and most fun crafts for your tween. You will only need a self-adhesive book covering, scissors, tape, and yarn. Tape the self-adhesive paper, stick side up, to a piece of paper so you can move around easily. To make this craft, arrange the yarn on sticky paper, per Pickle Bums

DIY Tie Dye Beach Towels

This craft is not only for tween girls but also for boys. It only requires one-step tulip tie-dye and 100 percent white cotton towels. Design your own beach towel using the color and perfect your ombre by folding the shirt and tying it.

Decorating your own Tote Bag

Tired of the plain and boring white tote bag? Why not turn it into something that suits your taste? Design your own tote bag with any materials available in your house. You can draw or put some letterings on it if you are after minimal design.

Handprint Doodle Art or Doodle Art

This easy craft only entails drawing doodles on a certain book or journal. You can first draw a hand and doodle it afterward.

Making your own Dream Catcher

Doilies, embroidery hoops, and a few dabs on hot glue are all you need to do when making a dream catcher. Use the hot glue to wrap the hoop with strips of vintage sheets, and only use the inside ring of the hoop.

Lego Mosaics

Although mostly legos are for school-aged kids, tweens are still fond of lego, especially boys. This craft is simple but involves many mathematical skills that would hone your child's skills.

Glue and Watercolor Resist

This creative and fun craft is for everyone, and tweens will surely enjoy it as they will learn how to paint a rose using watercolors and a black resist medium to make wonderful faux-stained glass art. This craft comprises coloring and painting the rose with watercolors, per Rhythms of Play.

Colored tape to make colorful artwork

Basically, you will only need a different color of tape and paper. Think of a design you'd like to make and put the design on paper using colored tape.
