Cardboard is a durable material used for packaging. It prevents moisture from infiltrating the product, making it one of the essential factors for products that need to withstand long transportation time, including protecting food products.

More than 90 percent of stuff shipped in the United States is packaged in some form of cardboard. Americans consume approximately seven trees worth of cardboard and paper products annually. In 2018, more than 17,200 thousand tons of cardboard were thrown into landfills, making both cardboard and paper comprise 40 percent of all solid waste.

According to Karl Knauer, cardboard remains one of the most sustainable packaging materials as it is made from renewable raw material-wood, making it eco-friendly.

1. Toilet Roll Animals

Kids can make their preferred animals by using only a toilet roll. You can paint your animal to make it more appealing and colorful, and you can also put googly eyes to add details once you get the shape right.

2. Cardboard Marble Maze

This DIY marble maze craft will keep your child entertained for hours as they attempt and guide a marble through the obstacles. You can use two stacked box lids for the bases and add popsicle sticks for the maze walls, and don't forget to put glue on it. Add marble-sized holes to make the craft even trickier. 

3. Shoebox Football

If you want a game to create and play with your children, this craft is the perfect DIY, as this also keeps children entertained for hours. Paint the tips of the peg and clip them to some wooden skewers. Make sure to cut off or cover any sharp edges for younger kids.
