The singer and song-writer got a scare of his life when his son was rushed to the hospital because of a panic attack, which he initially thought was a heart attack.

Rod Stewart's youngest child Aiden got "blue and unconscious" while playing for the Young Hoops Under-12s team at a soccer match that the latter needed to be taken to the hospital, Marca reported.

"We thought my boy had a heart attack. He was going blue and was unconscious until he calmed down. It was scary, but it turned out to be a panic attack," the father of 8 shared.

He added that Aiden wanted to do very well and "pulled on the Hoops in Scotland for his dad.

What causes panic attack in children

Laura Kronen, author and America's life coach took to Twitter, sharing her opinion that one does not go blue and rarely passes out from a panic attack, to which she got comments that disagree with her.

People, some who experienced panic attacks, commented that Kronen was wrong and that panic attacks, in fact, can cause a person to go blue, pass out, and be hospitalized.

According to the Calm Clinic, fainting is very much possible during a panic attack and this is caused by hyperventilation, rapid adrenaline, or vasovagal syncope. Moreover, My Health Alberta stated that panic attack in children can be caused by a stressful event and during the attack, the child may have a feeling of intense fear or terror, has trouble breathing, chest pain or tightness, has heartbeat changes, and is experiencing dizziness, sweating, and shaking.

The rockstar shares 2 sons Alastair, 17, and Aiden, 17 wife Penny Lancaster, whom he married in 2007.

Other children are daughter Sarah, 59, whom he with ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey placed for adoption as teens, son Sean, 42, and daughter Kimberly, 43, whom he co-parents with ex-wife Alana Stewart, daughter Ruby, 35, with ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg, and daughter Renee, 30, and Liam, 28, with ex-wife Rachel Hunter.

Being a 'different father' to each of his children

As a father of 8 children in different age groups, the "One More Time" artist opened up with People  a year ago about how he has learned to have different parenting styles depending on what would fit each kid.

He emphasized how he needed to be "several different fathers," treating each of his children as "individuals with individual problems."

He shared how he needed to give his then 15-year-old son sex lessons because he was starting to date girls already, only that his son responded how he already knows everything because of the internet.

Stewart was also transparent in sharing that all his older kids, except Liam, have been through the "bad period" of too much drinking and even "dabbling in drugs," and how all, thankfully, have "came out of the other side."

He said that as a father, he has learned to listen instead of blowing his top.

The 77-year-old music legend did not open up when the panic attack incident happened yet shared that there were actually 2 medical scares that happened in the same game.

Stewart said that there was another boy who "fell backwards and banged his head." The said boy is still not back yet.

He further shared that in all his days watching football, it was the only time that he witnessed 2 ambulances being called.
