Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed Expecting Second Baby After Years of Waiting

Ian Somerhalder's second baby is officially on the way.

The pair revealed that they are expecting their second child by posting a photo on Instagram using Somerhalder's account.

The photo shows Reed carrying their 5-year-old daughter while caressing her pregnant belly.

The actor also added that while taking a photo of her wife carrying their daughter, he could almost not believe what he's seeing in the viewfinder.

In his Instagram post, Somerholder stated that he has always dreamed of having a large family, ever since he was young.

The Vampire Diaries actor did not hide his excitement and joy in expressing that baby number two is coming real soon and that they are soon to be a family of four.

The actor also recognized his wife's effort in bringing this child into the world, thanking her for the beautiful gift that's about to come into their lives.

He gave thanks to Reed in his caption, expressing gratitude for the gifts of family and love, and saying that there is nothing more beautiful.

Somerhalder adds what an amazing mother her wife has been to their family, working hard to make their dreams come true.

According to ET, Reed and Somerhalder originally became acquainted with one another while working on the set of The Vampire Diaries.

They went on to get married in 2015. They chose to keep their family life private after the birth of Bodhi in July 2017, so the public hasn't heard much about them since then.

Somerhalder later revealed to People magazine in August 2022 that he and Reed had relocated their family to a farm just outside of Los Angeles, where they have been living ever since.

Nikki Reed's Announcement

With the same photo, Nikki Reed also went to her Instagram account and posted an announcement to inform her fans with a message to her fans.

Reed stated that after years of praying, manifesting, and dreaming for another child to come into their lives, it has finally happened this year.

Reed said that this year she will be celebrating life. In Somerhalder's post, he asked everyone, including friends, family, and fans, to be respectful to their families during this time.

This is because the couple has been known to be very selective and private about what they share online about their child and their small family. Social media can of course be a very weird place especially to young children.

However, Reed says this news is too good not to share. The actress has long been known to have strong boundaries with the use of social media and what she puts out to the world.

She ends her post by saying, "Thank you so much for honoring that and for sending positivity, kindness, and love." Here's the original post from Reed:

Both the name and the gender of the baby have not yet been officially announced by the couple. As it can be noticed in both of their Instagram posts, the couple did not confirm how many months they are in the pregnancy.
