Authorities in Michigan are intensifying efforts to locate 2-year-old Wynter Cole-Smith, who went missing after her mother was reportedly assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. According to NBC, the incident occurred on Sunday evening, when Wynter's mother fled the apartment to seek help and notify the authorities. However, upon their arrival, Wynter was nowhere to be found.

The mother, who remains unidentified, sustained multiple stab wounds during the altercation but has since been released from the hospital, according to the Lansing Police Department. Fortunately, Wynter's brother, who was also present, escaped unharmed.

The suspect in question, Rashad Maleek Trice, allegedly stole a white 2013 Chevrolet Impala before crashing it approximately 90 miles away. According to FOX 2 Detroit, Trice was apprehended at the crash site and is currently under guard at a hospital, as confirmed by Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee during a press conference.

FBI Offers $25,000 Reward for Information on Wynter's Whereabouts

In an effort to aid in Wynter's recovery, the FBI is offering a reward of $25,000 for information leading to her location. Additionally, the police have released details of the suspected route that Trice may have taken with Wynter from Lansing to St. Clair Shores, where he was eventually apprehended.

Chief Sosebee acknowledged that despite extensive search efforts like door-to-door canvassing, canine searches, drone surveillance, helicopter searches using heat signature technology, and dive team efforts, there hasn't been much progress so far.

Rashad Maleek Trice, aged 26, has been charged with several offenses, including assault with intent to murder, first-degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated domestic violence (second offense), unlawful driving away of an automobile, felonious assault, and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault.

Following his arraignment, Trice is currently being held without bond, and it remains uncertain whether he has legal representation as court records are not readily available. Law enforcement officials have spoken to Trice's known associates, warning that charges may be filed against anyone withholding information regarding Wynter's whereabouts.
