Tragedy Strikes on North Carolina's Dink Ashley Road

A father from North Carolina took the life of a driver who was allegedly responsible for the tragic accident involving his son on the road.

According to authorities, the man's family car had run out of fuel, prompting three relatives, including the man, to embark on a walk along the roadside.

Regrettably, a driver was unable to prevent colliding with the man's 17-year-old son, resulting in the teenager's tragic demise.

This information was confirmed by both the Person County Sheriff's Office and the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

While the driver was in the process of reporting the collision to a 911 operator, a sudden silence fell after two sounds resembling gunshots resonated through the line.

It was revealed that the teenager's father had taken out a handgun and used it to fatally shoot the driver.

Subsequently, the father purportedly absconded with the driver's pickup truck and returned to the family residence, leaving the deceased driver and his son at the scene.

The driver who lost his life in this harrowing series of events was identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Leonard McKay. McKay, from Youngsville, was employed as a maintenance worker for the North Carolina Department of Correction.

The father, identified as 41-year-old Chad Woods from Timberlake, was later apprehended and charged with larceny and second-degree murder.
