Kate explained that it took time to recover from surgery and initiate her treatment, but it was paramount to explain the situation to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a manner suitable for their understanding and reassuring them about her well-being. The decision to delay the public announcement until Friday likely stemmed from a desire to prioritize the protection of their children, as suggested by ABC News royal contributor Victoria Murphy.

With the children currently on Easter holiday from Lambrook School near their home in Windsor, England, William and Kate can shield them from external pressures and focus on their well-being.

The palace has not provided a return date for Kate's official duties, stating that she will resume them upon medical clearance. Kate commenced a preventative chemotherapy regimen in late February, although the specific type of cancer has not been disclosed.

Notably, King Charles III, Kate's father-in-law, is also undergoing cancer treatment, adding to the family's challenges.

Murphy suggested that the couple took time to prepare their children for the news, considering their school environment and interactions with other children. The timing of the announcement allows them to withdraw the children from the public eye and provide them with necessary support.

Customarily, the family attends Easter service together at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, but it's not probable they will do so this year, according to Murphy.

In a latest video message, Kate conveyed gratitude to William for his consistent support, escalating his role as a source of convenience during this challenging time. As they approach their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29, the couple continues to navigate these difficulties together.

Amid rumors, a family photo with Kate and her children was digitally altered, leading to a public apology from Kensington Palace. Kate and William were later seen together in Windsor, likely an intentional move to address the ongoing speculation.

However, these agencies later ignored the image, quoting the probability that it had been modified by the royal family before its release. The Associated Press noted that it seemed "the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP's photo standards."

Subsequently, Kate acknowledged that her Mother's Day photo had been edited and apologized for any "confusion" caused by these alterations. In a statement on X, she explained, "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused."
