How To Be The Best Dad Each Day

We all know that no person in this world is perfect, but we do know that we can be the best in the things that we do. One of those things we can work on being the best is on being a father.

According to Parenting, more than 30 years of research has yielded no concrete results on what makes a good father. Asking scholars will even give you a hard time with seemingly impossible qualities. Knowing this, what can the average dad do?

In their website, father-support organization The Daily Dad said that “Trying your best to be a good dad” makes one a great dad. To help dads become the best that they can be, we've rounded up some things to remember along the way.

Be True to Yourself

Your kids (and your spouse) will appreciate your individuality as a dad. You might be tempted to “play dad,” but in reality it's your person that your kids and spouse would want to be with.

Find out what your family likes about you and use that to your advantage. In the same way, find out what they dislike about you and try to improve on that.

What about you? What do you like or dislike about yourself? Improve as a person and your kids and spouse would like it as much as you do.

Not only that, if you aren't sold out to being a “dad,” you won't make it. Be true.

Be Your Child's Friend

Dads are tasked with the honorable role of providing for the family. You may rake in the bucks, but if you aren't providing your kids with personal “daddy time,” you might not be providing enough.

This issue seems overlooked by many dads: being involved. Get to know your child. Spend time playing with and talking to your kids. Be their friend. Get to know their friends their likes, and their favorite games or food. In short, be involved in every area possible.

Dads, research showed that this affects daughters even more. So if you have a daughter, do it even more.

Love Your Spouse

Did you know that when your kids see that you love your wife (or their mom), your kids benefit from it? Fathers can show what love really looks like by loving their wives.

Jackie Bledsoe wrote: “When the kids see dad loving mom, then they see what love looks like. Your sons will know how to relate to women as they grow older. Your daughters will know how a man should talk to her, and how a man should touch her. Nothing less will be acceptable.”

Any man can have kids, but it takes great determination to be the best dad that you can be. Happy parenting!
