Public Health England's free sugar-counting app has many people raving about the app's health benefits. Many people are also interested on how to use and maximize the free app.

According to the Food World News, the Public Health England created the free app to help parents detect the amount of sugar content in such packaged foods. The report also included that the free app was created in response to the alarming test results showing that children are having an average daily sugar intake that is three times more than the recommended amount.

ITV News likewise posted a guide on how to properly use the free app.

1. Download the app via the App Store or Google Play.

2. Depending on your age, your daily sugar allowance will differ accordingly. The app tells you the maximum amount you should consume.

3. Choose a product with a barcode.

4. Click on the app.

5. The pop up will then ask for a permission to use the camera.

6. Line the barcode up with the red line and wait for the beep. If it is not scanning, you may be too close to the camera. Adjust and wait til it scans.

7. The app will then tell you how much sugar is in the product. However, as of this writing, the app doesn't have every product on the market yet -- still a work in progress. 

8. You can then share the result with your friends on social media.

9. If you click on the menu tab, you can also learn more about sugar content in foods, check out your scan history and visit the app's website.

10. Use it regularly, keep an eye to your sugar intake and share with your families and friends.

Food World News also mentions about the recommended maximum sugar intake per day for 4 to 10 years old is five to six cubes of sugar. Thus, seven cubes remain the maximum for ages 11 and above.
