New Jersey Mom Kills Her Own Baby: Dad Forgives And Defends Her In Facebook

Forgiving someone who caused the death of a loved one is a tough act for most people. But that is exactly what a father did on Facebook when he forgave the mom who killed their own baby in New Jersey.

The father, Marco Mejia, posted on Facebook to talk about forgiving Lisa Marie Scalia who accidentally killed their 7-month-old daughter Olaia Marie Mejia, according to Yahoo Parenting.

"Please everyone remember that Lisa Marie loved Olaia Marie ... she definitely made the biggest mistake anyone can make but I refuse to believe she did this horrible act on purpose... ," Mejia wrote in a Facebook post.

"No one is in more pain than me except probably her... if I can forgive her I know everyone can forgive her... Please pray for her as well.. Thank you everyone for all the love." Mejia also asked the people commenting on Facebook to stop cursing and using vile words towards the mother.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, the 31-year-old Scalia was allegedly under the influence of drugs when she accidentally rolled over onto the infant baby in her home at Ventnor, New Jersey on Jan. 3. The unconscious baby was immediately taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, Atlantic City but was transferred to a children's hospital in Philadelphia where she died last Friday.

The mother is still in jail with a $100,000 bail and charges of child endangerment and drug possession but more charges might be added because of the child's recent death. Before her arrest, she was found at her home with 34 bags of heroin, 10 oxycodone pills, a dose of Suboxone for heroin addiction treatment and Lyrica for pain and seizure treatment, according to an earlier article by the Press of Atlantic City.

Though, the New Jersey mom who killed her own baby has made many people feel angry towards her actions, the father's Facebook posts containing messages of strength, courage and forgiveness have garnered support and admiration from many commenters.
