'The Last of Us' Release Date & News Update: New Name For The Game? Character, Release Updates And Why Was Nolan North Misquoted

Nolan North, whose character met his end in the survival video game "The Last of Us," was definitely popularly misquoted when fans said he confirmed that the video game's sequel is in the works. The voice actor for Nathan Drake in "Uncharted 4"  was quick to go on record to clear up any misunderstanding on the "The Last of Us 2" from his participation in a Q&A conference. Furthermore, Troy Baker being in the dark over "The Last of Us 2" details does not necessarily mean that Joel will be replaced by a new protagonist in the video game.

The clamour and crazy speculations are understandable given that over two years have passed since "The Last of Us" was released for PS3 and PS4. Developer Naughty Dog's completion of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" also begs the question: 'What's next?"

Rumors, both wild and logical, are going to continue for a while with Sony filing the new trademark title 'Days Gone' in December. Movie Pilot reported that a number of people believe that this is going to be the new subtitle for the game's sequel - "The Last of Us: Days Gone."

If "The Last of Us 2"  is happening, Gazette Review ganders this will happen after April 29, 2016. Why? Because this is when"Uncharted 4" will be released and creative director Neil Druckmann did say in an earlier statement that, if they will push forward with a Volume 2 for "The Last of Us," the schedule will be at some point after "Uncharted 4" is debuted.

"When Bruce [Straley, co-director] and I moved over to 'Uncharted 4', we were brainstorming ideas for 'The Last Of Us 2' with new characters; ideas for 'TLOU 2' with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas," remarked Druckmann. "And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4."

"So, I guess he [North] was kind of right in that we were working on stuff, but we don't know what we're doing next and we won't know until probably a few months after we finish 'Uncharted 4'," Druckmann stated.

Incidentally, Sony declares "Uncharted 4" to be their most ambitious "Uncharted" video game. It certainly does seem set to be the next biggest hit since last year's "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
