'Adele' Hits A Smashing Record: ‘Hello’ Singer Reached 1 Billion Views On Youtube [VIDEO]

The 27-year-old singer Adele has reached another milestone by being the fastest artist to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. The record-breaking news was announced by Vevo on Instagram and Twitter yesterday, Jan.18, 2016.

Adele has surpassed the records of artists such as 'NSYNC, Psy, and even Taylor Swift, according to Vocativ. In addition, Adele's 'Hello' video reached an astounding 27.7 million views 24 hours later it was posted on YouTube.

Reports say that Xavier Dolan, the director and the brainchild of Adele's "Hello" video said that Adele was the one who first approached her. The indie film director had a meeting with Adele in Paris where they shared their relationship stories and inspirations.

"It was a very informal, cool meeting. She made me listen to the song, and I loved it immediately. We started talking about our lives and our loves and our respective romances and what had inspired us. We sort of stem from the same artistic approach, which is to share with the world our most private and deepest moments." Dolan said.

Dolan shared that during the exchange of ideas, he imagined Adele being all melancholy as she wanders through old items in memory of her ghost lover. He said that the song was powerful enough and doesn't need any deeper touch in the video's storyline.

Dolan also slammed the bad comments on using a flip phone in the video. He said that it wasn't even the main focus of the video. "Who gives a f**k? It's just a flip phone! There's a line that's been drawn, a very dramatic and specific line that's been drawn, between people who have actually experienced love and people who care about useless s**t. Literally, the world has been divided into two categories," Dolan said.
