Millennial Parents: More Modern And Tech-Savvy Parenting Habits, According To A New Facebook Survey

People who were born after 1980, or the so-called millennials, are now becoming parents all around the world. And according to a new Facebook survey, millennial parents are bringing a more modern and tech-savvy approach to parenting.

In a report from ZeeNews, Facebook conducted an extensive research of more than 8,000 parents who are 25-65-year-old from all over the globe. The purpose of the research is to observe the parenting and online behavior of those parents. Their study shows that millennial parents are spending a little more time on Facebook mobile than non-parent Facebook users.

Millennial parents are spending more time online to do different things such as studying and looking for parenting tips, product reviews and price comparisons. "This is particularly true for millennial parents (ages 18-34) who are 30 percent more likely than Boomer parents (ages 50-65) to use their mobile devices to make more informed purchasing decisions," the research revealed.

The survey also says that parents nowadays are listening more to their children's opinions and suggestions more than before because of their belief that children nowadays are more well-informed. Almost half of the parents that were surveyed also said that they are concerned about financial matters in their family while almost 40 percent said they are having problems with time management.

Parent Guide News shared some tips for millennial parents who want to become more tech-savvy which include showing an interest on the latest technology; communicating with children through electronic means; monitoring the internet use and exposure of the children; and, connecting with other parents to learn new things.

"I can't guarantee that with a little tech knowledge you will instantly become the coolest parent on the block. Yet, you may get a little well-earned respect from the younger members of the household and open a whole new world for yourself at the same time," the article advised.
