Vanessa Hudgens' Father Dies Of Cancer; 'High School Musical' Star Will Still Perform In 'Grease: Live' To Honor His Dad

"High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens has achieved a lot in her young career with her father Greg always there to support her. Sadly, Hudgens' dad passed away due to cancer.

According to E Online, the 27-year-old star's father died after battling stage 4 cancer. He passed away at the age of 65 and is survived by Vanessa, his mother, his wife Gina Hudgens and daughter Stella Hudgens.

"I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer," Vanessa wrote on her Twitter account just hours before her "Grease: Live" performance on Fox. She also gave thanks to everyone who prayed for her father and revealed that she will still go on with her performance in the musical special in honor of her dad.

"High School Musical" co-star Ashley Tisdale took to Twitter to offer her condolences to Vanessa. "I am devastated. Just thinking of my girl and praying for her strength today," wrote Tisdale.

Another actor who lost his dad recently due to cancer also posted on Twitter to give his condolences to the actress. "I know what losing a parent 2 cancer is.The fact ur performing 2night is a testament 2 ur strength. Shine on lovely 1," posted "Empire" star Jussie Smollett.

According to PEOPLE, Vanessa first opened up about her dad's battle with cancer during her acceptance speech in Aug. 2015. "Last year, my boyfriend Austin lost his mom Lori to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer," Hudgens said. "Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being."

Vanessa Hudgens continued her speech by dedicating her award to her dad and to every family in the world struggling with cancer. The "High School Musical" star added that families dealing with cancer should be commended for their strength in facing the difficulties of the illness.
