Toddler Dies After A Drive-By Shooting, $20,000 Reward Awaits For Finding The Culprit

One-year-old boy, Aiden McClendon died after being in critical condition due to a gunshot during a drive-by shooting at the Eastside part of Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, Jan.29. Jacksonville cops are now on a manhunt for the culprit of this crime and are giving a reward worth $20,000 for that person's arrest.

The town's Sheriff's office reported that the boy was with his grandmother and mother and they were parked in front of a house at around 6:10 p.m. on Spearing Street when the shooting happened. News4Jax said that an unknown vehicle drove by that started firing the victims' car along with the car near it.

According to the website The Root, the color of the vehicle was white and the child was shot three times. He was brought to the hospital, but he was not able to make it.

Police in Jacksonville are saying that the incident is gang-related. They are now working on putting a stop on this kind of violence, especially when it involves gang activities. Sheriff Mike Williams of Jacksonville reported that 13 murder cases have already been accounted this year alone and the murder case of Aiden is the latest.

Detective Tom Hackney told the publication News4Jax his theory about the crime that the target of the gunman was someone from inside the house near where Aiden and her family was parked. He and his team are still working on gathering all the evidences needed and they are also interviewing witnesses hoping to find a lead that would eventually close this case.

Furthermore, Sheriff Mike Williams released a statement that anyone who would give them information about the gunman would be rewarded courtesy of the town's business leaders. The number to call is 1-866-845-TIPS. The person could be anonymous for his or her safety and in the end would still get the said amount as a reward.
