CHABAC United In The Hope Of Fighting HIV AIDS In The Black Communities

The African, the Caribbean and the Black Canadian (CHABAC) communities are united in the hope of fighting HIV-AIDS. For this cause, a celebration was held last Feb. 7 with an aim to enhance awareness among people about HIV AIDS and how it can affect a person after being detected positive. In addition to the campaign, the group announced good news among the community who has a high number of HIV-AIDS case positive.

HIV AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is often misunderstood by the majority due to the lack of information dissemination. Therefore, many are unaware about how to avoid it for prevention.  For this reason, a strict monitoring in areas where the disease is rampant is being monitored to avoid further spreading of the virus, according to Huffingtonpost

The organization's hope is referring to the availability of advanced facility that people can use to prevent, diagnose, and treat the disease. As of the moment, one of the most trusted tests to diagnose HIV AIDS is through ELISA Test (Enzyme- Linked Immunosorbent Assay) which is to be followed by another test called "Western Blot Test," which] is conducted by obtaining a blood sample for laboratory testing.

Home testing is also possible for suspected cases. According to Mayo Clinic, the Food and Drug Administration gave a specific instruction on how to do it. To do the testing, the person is advised to obtain a fluid sample from the upper and lower gums through swabbing. The sample may be sent to the nearest laboratory for confirmation.

So far, given the statistical data from CHABAC, the medical world concluded that the cases are slowly decreasing in number, although still existing new cases is ongoing. The group is still determined in spreading the necessary information for prevention and cure.
