10 Dangerous Human Foods That You Can Eat But Probably Shouldn't

Some of the food delicacies are tempting to eat especially if they are delicious, adventurous and comforting. On the other hand, some of these can make you totally ill or may even poison you to death.

Fox News and AlterNet gathered the 10 most dangerous foods that you can eat yet probably you shouldn't because they are threats to your health:

1.       Raw Cashews

Raw cashews contain urushiol which is a chemical that can be found in poison ivy. The cashews are often steamed to eradicate the urushiol. On the other hand, the increased level of urushiol can be fatal just like the poison ivy. This may also cause fatal allergic reaction.

2.       Cassava

Cassava is mostly found in Asia, South America and Africa. It is a tropical root crop and also termed as tapioca. It must not be eaten raw because it has a toxin that is called linamarin that can make the body converts to the deadly cyanogenic glycoside. It must be boiled thoroughly before eaten. The leaves of the cassava also contain toxic cyanide that can poison you when ingested.

3.       Tuna

Tuna contains mercury that can pass through your kidneys and to your brain which can drive you crazy. You can visit the Environmental Working Group to know how much the recommended tuna intake you should only have. The FDA advises pregnant women and children not to consume tuna.

4.       Raw Honey

Unpasteurized honey has grayanotoxin which is a harmful toxin that can cause nausea, weakness, excessive sweating, dizziness and vomiting that may last for a day. It is recommended to eat honey that goes through the pasteurization process that can kill the harmful toxins.

5.       Bitter Almonds

The bitter almonds are rich in hydrogen cyanide that can be fatal for children and adults. It was recorded that 7 to 10 pieces of raw bitter almonds can put your health in danger.

6.       Stems, Leaves and Sprouts of Potatoes

The stems, leaves and sprouts of potatoes have glycoalkaloids that may cause diarrhea, cramping, confused headaches, coma or even death when eaten. The glycoalkaloids can also build up in the potato if it is not removed or is left longer, especially in the light. Avoid eating potatoes with a greenish tinge, too.

7.       Nutmeg

Eating 0.2 oz. of nutmeg may cause convulsions and 0.3 oz. of it may lead to seizures. This is because it is hallucinogenic.

8.       Rhubarb

11 pounds of the Rhubarb leaves could make you seriously ill or may be fatal because the leaves contain oxalic acid.

9.       Fruit Seeds

Fruit seeds such as the cherry pits have hydrogen cyanide that is called prussic acid that may poison you. Avoid eating peach, apricot and ground pits, too.

10.   Stem and Leaves of Tomatoes

The leaves and stems of tomatoes have alkali poisons that may cause stomach agitation. Avoid eating unripe green tomatoes because they also have the same effect.
