Beyonce News & Update: Miami Police To Boycott Singer's Concert In Miami; 'Formation' Song Is Anti-Police?

Beyonce is at it again! Causing some media stir with her newest song "Formation", the song, which delivers a message of being strong and standing up to the hierarchy in society today, was misunderstood by police as an antipolice message thus the Miami police have plans to boycott Beyonce's upcoming Miami concert. The concert, which is happening this April 26, 2016, is being planned by the police to be boycotted and, as of today, Beyonce is yet to make a statement.

"The Miami Fraternal Order of Police has voted to have all law enforcement officers boycott Beyoncé's concert which is being held at the Miami Marlins Stadium on Wednesday, April 26, 2016," Javier Ortiz, president of Miami Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20, said in a statement. "The fact that Beyoncé used this year's Super Bowl to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her antipolice message shows how she does not support law enforcement."

Ortiz believes that Beyonce's newest music as well as the music video emanates an anti-police message to her fans with him explaining that he accidentally watched the music video when it was playing on TV. Beyonce's music video for "Formation" shows a black man wearing a riot gear dancing in front of a police car.

Another scene shows Beyonce sitting on top of a New Orleans police car, which was sinking and graffiti that says "Stop Shooting Us." However, according to Maj. Delrish Moss, spokesman for the Miami Police Department, Ortiz' statement does not speak for the police department or the city and that Beyonce's concert venue will still be protected.

"Right now the union president has his First Amendment right to say whatever he wants to say, but that doesn't always translate to reality. As far as we see, there's no indication that anything that is said there will translate into police officers not working the job," Moss said.
