Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey Works With Dad After Losing Mom To Cancer

Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey shared that her mother would be proud to see him working closely with his dad. He recently decided to produce a new production of his father's one-man play.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the 24-year-old MTV star revealed that losing his mom Cyndi Posey to cancer was a difficult time for him and his family. His mother died in December 2014, few months after he ended his engagement with his longtime girlfriend.

"When my mom passed, it hit us hard. She was the glue that held our family together," he said.

Tyler shared that after his mother's death, he spent a long time in a "dark place."  He added that focusing on his career has saved him from the pain of losing his mother.

Aside from producing Teen Wolf, he said that he recently decided to produce the play of his father John Posey, a character actor, after he felt that they "needed a distraction". With the help of his younger brother Jesse Posey, he is now one of the producers of his father's one-man show 'Father, Son & Holy Coach'.

"It felt like putting this play on together was almost for her," Tyler said, referring to his mother. "I wanted to make her happy and proud. I know us doing it together would have made her so happy. She loved when all her boys were together."

"You really feel this sense of family. It really makes a big difference that we are all there together," Tyler added.

Commenting about his son's decision, John said that he is happy that Tyler and Jesse are parts of the production. "The play is a great father-son story and it's so great to have the boys on board. It's amazing to watch them grow into the men they've become."

According to the play's website, 'Father, Son & Holy Coach' is a one-man comedy that explores a father-son relationship. The play is originally written and performed by John. It is currently running at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles.
