'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Release Date, News & Update: How 'Star Wars': The Force Awakens Is Linked To Neil Druckmann's Final Nathan Drake Story

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" by developer Naughty Dog and "Last Of Us" director Neil Druckmann is a leap from the previous "Uncharted" games primarily because of the game's exclusivity to Sony's Playstation 4. For "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" lead writer Josh Scherr who also worked with Druckmann on the earlier "Uncharted" releases, this was more of a challenge than most fans realise.

According to New York Daily News, thanks to "Star Wars": The Force Awakens, which was directed by J.J. Abrams and co-written for screen by Lawrence Kasdan ("Star Wars": Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, "Star Wars": Episode VI - Return of the Jedi), Scherr's trepidation over "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was replaced by anticipation. The mastery in bringing together both old and new generations of fans of "Star Wars": The Force Awakens to feel that this instalment was created especially for them was an inspiration of sorts for Scherr.

"I have to say, after seeing 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' I had this odd personal sense of relief," Scherr said. "I said, you know, maybe it is OK to blend a fair amount of familiar with the unfamiliar. While we're obviously trying to bring all of our fans over from the PlayStation 3 games, we're also trying to appeal to a brand new subset of people who maybe didn't own a PlayStation 3 and now own a PlayStation 4."

The main challenge in developing "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" for Playstation 4, where the strength of Sony's console is to wed cinematic and gaming experience, is in bringing the game to a different type of gamers. Naughty Dog and Scherr's team had to let the developer's strength in storytelling shine through while making the most of PS4's graphical features.

While anticipation for the game is quite high, given reports and Neil Druckmann's statement that "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will be the last Nathan Drake story, fresh news by Daily Star indicates that the "Uncharted 4" pre-order bonuses that were leaked on Sony Playstation's YouTube account left more than a few fans unhappy.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will have Nathan Drake voiced by Nolan North at its heart and will be joined by Troy Baker ("The Last Of Us") as Sam Drake, Laura Bailey ("Street Fighter V") as Nadine Ross and Emily Rose ("Secret Summer") as Elena Fisher. "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is set for an April 2016 release.
