Dads usually do not have problems bonding with their sons because males usually have common interests. It is the mothers who oftentimes find it difficult to bond with their sons.

All Parenting shared some of the best activities for mom and son bonding. Because a son's preferred activities evolve as he grows up, the activities are categorized based on the son's age group.

1. Elementary age son

Elementary age sons like corny jokes and slapstick comedy. Moms need to be able to bring on the funny so that their sons will enjoy their company. Playing basketball, table tennis, toy guns, board games, biking, picnics, camping and other physical activities are also encouraged.

2. Tween son

This period in a boy's life involves many changes in his physicality, emotions and attitude. "The biggest danger for parents is trying to parent through power instead of through relationship, thus eroding their bond and losing their influence on their child as she moves into the teen years," Aha Parenting explained.

Moms can bond with their tween sons by introducing to them fresh and exciting activities that they were not able to do during their elementary age. Marathons, racing, buying new gadgets and clothes, meal preparations, computer games and skiing are some of the most appealing activities for tween sons.

3. Teenage son

Doing something that seems adventurous, exciting and gross will also be appreciated by teenage boys. Moms can also try to become text mates, chat mates and social media friends with their sons. Moms and sons can also listen to music together and watch thrilling movies with each other.
