Babysitter Used Drugs Before Killing, Sexually Abusing 16-Month Old Infant

Parents should be better more cautious with their baby than ever. A baby sitter has been recently charged with murder by allegedly killing the 16-month-old toddler Anthony Delgado whom she had been caring over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The 31-year-old Gloria Fields, the child's babysitter, was charged after the authorities found out that the baby died from several blunt force injuries from the different parts of the body. As reported by New York Times, the authorities said the case was homicide.

"For 48 hours, this depraved woman systematically tortured a 16-month-old baby," said Michael McMahon, the Staten Island District Attorney. "No creature on this earth, let alone an innocent child, deserves to undergo such horrific torment."

According to the video which was recorded where the suspect was caught in the act, Fields has used heroin multiple times and even smoked marijuana before executing the crime. The video also showed how she smacked the boy multiple times in the head and slammed the baby face-first on the floor.

The schizophrenic babysitter has also admitted slipping a Crayola pencil through the little boy's rectum. According to her, she left the pencil there for almost a day and a half.

"I just wanted to break down, I just wanted to break down," said Roger Simpson, Anthony's grandfather. "Bruises on his face. So I didn't even know all that and it's going to stick, that allegation is going to stick with me the rest of my life."

The crime was discovered by Anthony's grandmother Sunday night, Feb. 21. As stated by ABC 7, the officers were able to make it through the crime scene by 10 p.m. and performed CPR on the child. The child eventually died about an hour later at Staten Island University Hospital North.

Krystal Gordon, the aunt of Fields, said her niece was never fit to become a babysitter. "Everyone knows she's unstable. Everyone knows she does drugs," Krystal Gordon said.
