Lindsay Lohan’s Mother Arrested for Drunk Driving in New York

The Lohans like to stay in the news for all the wrong reasons. Dina Lohan, mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, was arrested and charged by the New York State Police Thursday night, for driving while intoxicated (DWI).

Dina, 50, was stopped by the authorities for going 77 mph in a 55 mph area in her white BMW on the Northern State Parkway in Oyster Bay at around 11 p.m. They tested her for alcohol and found that her blood alcohol concentration was  .20 percent, double the legal limit of .08.

The police said that the troubled actress' mother was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI. Dina alleged that she was injured during the arrest after she was taken to the State Police barracks in Farmingdale for processing, reported CBS News.

The authorities said that the State Police called for an ambulance to check on her allegation. However, they found no injuries on her.

She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in Nassau County on Sept. 24.

Her 27-year-old daughter, Lindsay, has made headlines for her legal and substance abuse issues. In July she finished her latest court-ordered stay in a rehabilitation center.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lindsay accepted her proclivity to alcohol. She said that she was "in a different head space" and vowed to stay "present and clear-headed and focused."

Just after her interview, Lindsay's father Michael Lohan said that his daughter's legal and drug troubles were a result of bad parenting.
