Officials sentenced a 14-year-old girl to 15 years in detention for stabbing two teachers in Ammanford while screaming "I'm going to kill you."

The teenager's name was not revealed because of her age but she was ordered to serve at least half of her sentence in custody. The suspect was found guilty of attempted murder during a second trial at Swansea Crown Court in February 2025 after the first trial collapsed.

Teenage Girl Sentenced to 15 Years for Stabbing Attack

The victims of the stabbing were Fiona Elias, Liz Hopkin, and another student, who were all treated in the hospital with stab wounds. That was after the attack at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, Carmarthenshire, in April last year.

In court, Hopkin spoke about the incident, saying that she was worried about the girl's future. On the other hand, Elias said that the defendant placed her, her family, and the entire school "through hell."

The teenage girl was found to have brought a weapon to school every day and used her father's multi-tool knife in the initial attack on Elias, which occurred on Apr. 24, 2024. During the suspect's sentencing, Judge Paul Thomas KC said that the defendant had not shown remorse for her actions and only attacked the three victims for attention, according to BBC.

The jury in the case also heard that the teenage girl repeatedly stabbed Elias, resulting in the teacher suffering from wounds to both of her arms. Other students said that the suspect previously told them she was planning to stab Elias and "do something stupid" that would get her expelled.

During the incident, Hopkin intervened and tried to restrain the teenage girl but was also stabbed, getting injured in her neck, back, legs, and arms. The girl then ran at a 14-year-old student after a "standoff" and stabbed her.

Trying To Get Attention

A former assistant head teacher who restrained the suspect during the attack, Darrell Campbell, described the incident as "something out of a horror movie." He said that after the ordeal, he had countless sleepless nights, the Independent reported.

The suspect in the stabbing will be eligible for release on license after serving half of the sentence. However, the judge in the case said that she could be recalled to custody if she is found to have behaved badly again once she is free.

After the attack, the teenage girl allegedly told police officers, "That's one way to be a celebrity." She added that it was certainly going to be on the news, noting that more eyes will be looking at her, as per The Guardian.
