Florida police arrested a man who admitted to fatally shooting his parents and calling the incident a "righteous kill."
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Largo on June 6 following a call for a welfare check for an employee who did not show up at his workplace. Deputies went to the home at around 12:30 p.m. and discovered the bodies of 53-year-old Elizabeth Lee Kirchner and 64-year-old Steven Eric Kirchner, both with gunshot wounds.

Investigators later learned that the couple's 37-year-old son, Nicholas Steven Kirchner, took off from the residence before deputies arrived. There was no information about the suspect's attorney at the time he was arrested.
Detectives said they received a call from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina regarding a separate incident that the son was accused of being a part of. In the latter, he allegedly said, "I've already killed two people - I'll kill some more," according to the Miami Herald.
After the second incident, the suspect took off again but he was taken into custody in Georgia by the Taliaferro County Sheriff's Office. A press release noted that the 37-year-old man admitted several times to his parents' murders, leading officials to charge the suspect with two counts of first-degree murder.

While he was in South Carolina, the suspect reportedly threatened several individuals at gunpoint and told them to get into a home to retrieve an item. He said that he was willing to shoot if they did not listen to his demands.
After confessing to his parents' murders, the suspect said he abandoned a Nissan Pathfinder that he stole not far from where he was arrested. He was then transported to the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office jail and is now waiting for extradition back to Florida, Law & Crime reported.
Investigating the Case
There is also a probable cause affidavit that has not been shared with the public that could provide more information about the killing as well as a timeframe of the incident. Despite this, the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
A similar incident involves a Wisconsin teen who killed his parents as part of an extremist plot to assassinate President Donald Trump. Waukesha County authorities identified the suspect as 17-year-old Nikita Casap, who was arrested in March and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of hiding a corpse.
Additionally, investigators are pursuing federal charges against the teenager, including conspiracy, presidential assassination, and use of weapons of mass destruction, court documents showed, as per ABC News.
