Uncle Bucks And Cabela's Classic Candies Maple Nut Candies Recalled For Undeclared Peanuts

Peanut allergy can sometimes cause severe allergy attacks. Symptoms can sometimes be life-threatening or even fatal which include urticarial, itchiness, asthma, abdominal pain, diarrhea, swelling, sneezing, eczema, cardiac arrest and drop in blood pressure.

Given that reason, the Rucker's Wholesale and Service Co of Bridgeport, Illinois, has recollected all of Uncle Bucks and Cabela's Classic Candies Maple Nut candy. The company recalled their product due to an undeclared ingredient -- the peanut.

Because of the risk which can dangerously affect their customer's life, the company decided to recall the product which was already distributed nationwide throughout Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's stores. As posted by The Morning Call, "Affected product is packaged in a 2.7 oz clear bag with paper header card, both brands are UPC number 7 52545 07101 3. This includes all Best-By codes 010116 through 020117."

There is only one allergic reaction that has been reported to date. The company's decision was initiated after the customer has filed a report of peanut allergic reaction after consuming a serving of their Maple Nut Candy. The Rucker's Wholesale and Service Co. is urging their customers not to consume their product anymore if they are prone to have an allergic reaction to peanuts.

The company is also accepting refund to those who would want their money back. "Anyone who would like a refund, or have questions may contact the company at 618-945-2411, or 800-663-1857 Mon-Fri 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM CST, or email, customerservice@ruckerscandy.com," as posted by Fox 28.

Meanwhile, contrary to its name, peanuts are not a real nut though they have the same structure and almost the same taste as that of tree nuts. Like peas and lentils, peanuts are legumes. But because of its same structure and similarity with other nuts, people who have allergic reactions to it can also probably be allergic with other nuts like Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, cashews and pecans.
