The Secret To Losing Weight Are Microbes

A study back in 2006 about microbes being the reason behind people's weight loss is currently becoming popular and embraced by scientists based on the follow-up researches and observations that they have conducted linked to it. Obesity experts are even more convinced that microbes or gut bacteria are the ones responsible for people to lose weight.

Obesity has been an issue for a long time now, especially in America. Lots of diet and exercise programs have been introduced to the public to encourage living healthy and staying fit, but the problem is still very much present. The medical industry would always advise people to simply eat less and just exercise more to not gain weight, but that advice doesn't usually work.

In an article published by The Sydney Morning Herald, Dr. Tim Spector, author of the book "The Diet Myth" and professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King's College in London, among the reasons why usual diet programs and exercises don't work is because some people are just genetically prone to obesity.

"The missing piece of the puzzle is something that's inside us," Spector explained. "It's something that influences, not only how we eat, what we eat but also how we get the energy from our food, that is: microbes."

This is not the first time that this theory that leads to a study was made by researchers. Ten years ago this was already published suggesting that feeding the microbes or good bacteria right would lead to weight loss and living healthy.

But the problem is how can one determine or rather how can our food determine which bacteria to feed inside. Sometimes, the food we eat could end up feeding the bad bacteria, which of course, leads to obesity and other diseases.

One of the findings that Spector has observed is that eating processed foods is more likely to starve the microbes because those kinds of food could go straight to the bloodstream before the microbes could even do their job. It is important to stay away from processed foods as much as possible, as it is not a good idea for microbes to go hungry. It will lead to it getting cranky and just functioning wrong in the body.
