Novak Djokovic Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend Jelena Ristic

Tennis star Novak Djokovic announced his engagement with longtime girlfriend Jelena Ristic on Twitter, Wednesday.

"Meet my fiance (sic) and future wife," Djokovic tweetd. "So happy! Thank you for the wonderful wishes #NoleFam and friends!" His fiancé is seen kissing him on cheek in the photo.

The couple has been in a relationship for eight years and according to the Associate Press reports, the 26-year-old tennis star proposed to Jelena over the weekend in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Jelena is the director of Djokovic's charitable foundation and is mostly seen in his tennis matches excitingly cheering him on and getting involved in the game. "You can get very passionate when watching your boyfriend from the players' box. We just want them to be happy. You don't want to see them in pain. If they are not happy, neither are you," Jelena told British media.

Djokovoc holds World No 1 ranking in ATP. In 2011, he overtook top two players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal after winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open and losing only six matches. He won his first Grand Slam title in 2008 by winning the Australian Open.

Apart from when he is not playing tennis, Djokovic watches football. He is a keen fan of Serbian football club Red Star Belgrade, Italian Serie A side A.C. Milan and Portuguese club S.L. Benfica. He is good friends with another tennis star Ana Ivanovic. Djokovic knows her since he was two and both grew up together in Serbia.
