Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies Welcome Baby Girl

It is a baby girl for Rachael Leigh Cook and husband Daniel Gillies! The couple welcomed their first child Sunday.

The Vampire Diaries star Daniel shared the happy news on Twitter.  "It's a girl. The tiny new empress of my everything . She's immaculate. We're delirious," he tweeted.

The couple was married in 2004 and announced the pregnancy in May. "I've been hiding my rapidly growing bump while shooting but this kiddo is vying for screen time," the 33-year-old TV actress told Us Weekly. "We clearly have a future actor on our hands.

She also explained that they were happy with their decision of not rushing into having babies and rather wait.  "We're both people who like kids, but we weren't jumping up and down, like, 'Oh my God, let's start that chapter of our lives,'" Cook told PEOPLE magazine. "There was just so much more both of us wanted to do."

During pregnancy Rahcael said that she knew the gender of the baby but initially wanted to keep it a surprise. "We didn't plan to (find out) initially, but my husband and I have largely been apart for this thing, which was very difficult on several levels, so finding out the sex seemed like a good way to make it all seem more real," she told the magazine.

She shared her experience about dealing with problems associated with pregnancy. "It was difficult. I was tired. I didn't have any of the sickness, but the fatigue and all of the changes that are going on with your body on top of what goes on working a 15-hour day once you get through hair and makeup - in heels - is not that fun," she said.
