'Fable Legends' Canceled, Microsoft Shuts Down Lionhead Studios

The general manager of Microsoft Studios Europe Hanno Lemke has revealed that "Fable Legends" has been canceled at the official Xbox newswire. Lemke added that Lionhead Studios is about to close.

"Today we announced that we have made the difficult decision to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios," he said. On April 13, "Fable Legends'" game server will be shut down and the video game will not be playable anymore, according to a post on Lion Head's forum.

Hence, "Fable Legends" players who are playing in beta can still continue to play until 3 p.m. GMT on the said date. However, the server will not accept any new gamers.

Moreover, Microsoft also instantly stopped the sale of gold in "Fable Legends'" in-bank game. On the other hand, for those gamers who already did the purchase but haven't used the gold yet, the company is going to provide a refund. The process will be emailed to the beta testers starting next week.

"The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the 'Fable' series over the past decade," Lenke said on Xbox Wire

In a post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft also announced the closing of Press Play Studios and efficiently revoked its entire project that is in the works. The said company from Denmark is the one responsible video games like "Max: The Curse of Brotherhood" and "Kalimba."

Lemke said that Microsoft had a hard time deciding to end the company's functions and services. Hence, he just gave his gratitude to every person who served the studio and said that they were lucky to work with everyone who shared their talent, creativity and commitment.

Lion Head Studios was founded by Peter Molyneux in 1996 and established its name with the series of "Black & White" god games, HNGN reports. Later, the company released "Fable" and "The Movies" before they were bought by Microsoft in 2006 and just focused on doing the "Fable" games.
