PlayStation VR Price, Release Date & Games: 5 Things You Should Know Before Sony Launches PSVR Device

PlayStation fans have something to be excited about as its newest gadget, the PlayStation VR (Virtual Reality), is almost here. Sony has been developing this device for years and the tech company is now ready to put the device on sale for fans to enjoy a new gaming experience.

Below are the five things you should know about PSVR:

PlayStation VR Release Date

There are speculations that the PlayStation VR is going to be in stores in the fall, to give developers enough time to complete game developments, per Games Radar. However, Sony is expected to make an announcement about the device's release date in its March 15 event at the Game Developers Conference taking place in San Francisco. The presentation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with demonstrations at 6:00 p.m., but this is an invite-only event, per The Verge.

PlayStation VR Price

It's been pegged that the device will be worth as much as a brand new PlayStation 4 console, which is about $350 to $400. Other VR headsets have been launched recently, such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, with their prices falling between $600 to $800. Sony executives confirmed that the PSVR will not be priced that much, per Tech Radar.

PlayStation VR Games

There will be at least 10 games from Sony for the PSVR's initial release. These include "RIGS: Machine Combat League" and "Final Fantasy XIV," per Bloomberg. More choices are expected to be added to the library to boost the game device's marketability. Alphr has compiled a list of what games are already in development for PSVR. The list includes release dates.

PlayStation VR Restriction

Sony has announced that the PSVR is not suitable for children under 12-years-old. Users are also advised to make sure to remove all obstacles around the area when playing, including pets and younger children, per Engadget.

PlayStation VR Computer Requirements

Engadget also reports that while the PSVR is not a high-end type compared to the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, it will need to run on a high-end and fast computer to work best. The graphics card has to be an NVIDIA GTX 970 with a minimum of 4GB RAM.
