App-Controlled Wireless Wearable Device Detects Blood Sugar Levels 24/7; Time to Say Goodbye to Insulin Injections?

An amazing wireless wearable device may be the answer to those horrible insulin injections. This app-controlled pump can deliver medication to diabetics round the clock. Whether you're sleeping, walking, or working, this device can detect your blood sugar levels and deliver timely medication.

Reports made by Daily Mail stated that this new insulin pump was made by Cellnovo, a Welsh company that specializes in diabetes. This revolutionary pump, which is attached to the skin using an adhesive patch, can be worn 24/7, allowing the app-controlled device to continuously monitor blood sugar levels.

The Cellnovo device has been approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. It has an activity tracker which is responsible for measuring the blood sugar levels, then calibrates it automatically on how much drug must be delivered to the body. Since its size is akin to that of a matchbox, it can be easily worn on any part of the body preferred, such as the arm or the stomach.

A smartphone-size handheld controller can be used to program the wearable device. This allows precision in the amount of insulin that will be pushed via a cannula to the bloodstream.

Another thing that makes this diabetic wearable device beneficial is that it communicates with an online app, which logs the treatment. Hence, the overall health condition of the individual can be monitored, and reviewed by health experts.

According to one user, 46-year-old Chris Lowe, "It has changed my life. It fits under a shirt and I can wear it while I am working and in the shower." He added that, "The really fantastic thing is that it monitors and controls blood glucose just like a healthy pancreas."

NCSU has stated that the first smart insulin patch was created by researchers at the North Carolina State University and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. From that first invention, there is now a wearable device that can monitor blood sugar levels round the clock and deliver the proper medication when needed.
