Morbidly Obese Dad Decides to Lose Weight After Not Being Able to Breathe Normally

A morbidly obese father decides to shed off pounds after not being able to breathe normally during his sleep, according to the Daily Mail.

Kayes Uddin was diagnosed as morbidly obese and had sleep apnea. Due to his inability to breathe normally while asleep, he had to use a breathing mask that ensured his throat would not close down. Two years ago, Uddin's doctors warned him of the seriousness of his condition and told him that he had no other choice but to lose weight, otherwise his health will be at risk, according to Airing News.

Uddin underwent gastric bypass surgery at the National Health Service (NHS) and lost 238 pounds. He is now able to sleep and breathe normally. "Being diagnosed with sleep apnoea was my lowest point. To be told my breathing was stopping at night because I was so fat was terrifying. I was scared to sleep in case I never woke up," he said. "Now I'm so fit I've cured the condition and don't have to wear a mask in bed every night," he added.

Kayes became obese after following a very poor diet that only consisted of junk foods, carbonated drinks and curry. Now a father of three, he explains, "With each baby that came along my wife and I both put on weight. We were eating a typical Asian diet with lots of fat as well as take outs, sweets and junk. I couldn't walk without getting out of breath. Playing with the children left me exhausted and I knew I had to do something but didn't know where to start." Sleep apnea is a condition that is normally associated with people who are obese. It is characterized by the collapse in muscles and tissues that then results to a blockage in the airways.
