Pregnancy is the time in which your offspring is developed in your womb. It will last for about 40 weeks and these are grouped into three trimesters. There would be changes in your body as you undergo the conception period. With this complicated process, it is important to prepare your body for conception. This requires making yourself healthy. In this way, you can protect your baby from health problems thus making him normal and healthy.

There are some lifestyle changes and important thinsg you should do before you start conceiving. Parents and WebMD share the following steps that you can do to make your baby healthy and prepare your body for pregnancy:

1. Get a check-up.

As soon as you know that you are positive in the pregnancy test, consult a doctor right away. The doctor would assess your health. She will prescribe medicines that you need and some prenatal vitamins. She would also advise you on how to manage your health condition. Visit your doctor regularly as scheduled by your doctor.

2. Eat healthy food.

You must eat well. Consume foods that are rich in iron, folic acid, protein and calcium. These include leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, low-fat dairy products. Avoid eating junk foods, baked goods, sweets and chips.

3. Do some motions.

Get in shape by moving and exercising. These involve walking and swimming. It is best if you attend a prenatal exercise class.

4. Balance your weight.

Do not be overweight or underweight. Consult your doctor on what is the ideal weight for you.

5. Drink plenty of fluids.

You must, at least, drink 8 glasses of water every day. Drink milk for pregnant women and juice sometimes. Avoid drinking soda, coffee and tea.

6. Make lifestyle changes.

Smoking and drinking alcohol are not healthy for you and for your baby. You must stop these things that might result in miscarriage or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and birth defects.

7. Talk to your insurance agent.

Prepare your insurance. It is better if it covers 100 percent of delivery and prenatal acre. On the other hand, if you don't have insurance you must get it now. You may consider life insurance that will both cover you and your child.

8. Sleep tight.

Sleep can make you rest and healthy. Have a tight sleep always.

9. Don't stress yourself.

Do not involve yourself in stressful situations such as changing jobs, moving a house or quarreling with your husband. Think of your baby first before you do something.
