'Law & Order: SVU' Season 17 Spoilers & News Update: Mariska Hargitay To Helm Upcoming Episode; Series Will Take On 'The Bachelor/Bachelorette'

For fans who are following the popular NBC legal, crime drama, Mariska Hargitay will be gone for a while. However, according to reports, the actress will still be part of "Law & Order: SVU" season 17, only that she will be working behind the cameras.

Parent Herald previously reported that Olivia Benson's career was at high risk in "Law and Order: SVU" season 17. In fact, she was forced to leave in the office and many fans were disappointed to see her go. Some even threatened that they will not watch the show again.

Although, "Law and Order: SVU" fans will not see Hargitay's character in the show for a while, it doesn't actually mean that she is completely out. According to Inquisitr, the actress may not take her role in front of the cameras, but she will be working behind it.

Per Spoilers Guide, Hargitay will be directing "Law and Order: SVU" season 17, episode 19. In the said episode, Detective Carisi (Peter Scanavino) will go undercover at a homeless shelter to find out if one of its residents is the man behind the string of rapes in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, per Showbiz 411, "Law and Order: SVU" will do an episode inspired from the popular show "The Bachelor." Per the report, it will revolve around the fictional dating show called "Heart's Desire," which appears to be a combination of the TV reality shows "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette."

"Heart's Desire" will be run by the married couple Jeffery and Regina Prince. He is manipulative and likes to be in charge because he wants everyone to know that he is smart. Meanwhile, she is career focused, ambitious and thick skinned.

Per the report, one potential twist is that the mother of the bachelor is a lawyer and he may need one.
