How To Avoid Cesarean Section: 5 Tips To Have A Normal Delivery

An estimated one out of three women give birth through Cesarean section. Doctors decide to deliver a baby through C-section to save the life of the child or the mother.

However, there are some ways to reduce the chances of giving birth through Cesarean section. Aha Parenting and Fit Pregnancy shared some tips to have a normal delivery.

1. Moderate exercise during pregnancy.

Women who do not exercise moderately during pregnancy are four times more likely to give birth through Cesarean section. Walking and simple aerobics during the first and second trimester of pregnancy are beneficial for many pregnant women.

2. Choose an OB-GYN with a low C-Section rate.

Choosing an OB-GYN with a high success rate for normal delivery is preferred. "This is true even if you don't need a VBAC, because it means your caregiver doesn't default to Cesareans."

3. Low-intervention procedures

"If you don't have any particular health problems, opt for fewer rather than more tests, treatments and interventions during your pregnancy," Fit Pregnancy advised. "Obviously, some tests are important for every mother, but many are entirely optional."

4. Early labor at home

Spending the early part of your labor at home can also help avoid Cesarean section. Moving around, getting in the tub, eating, drinking and going for short walks at home are ideal until your labor contractions occur more frequently.

5. Healthy diet

A healthy and balanced diet is also one of the best tips to have a normal delivery. Preventing obesity can also help reduce the risk for hypertension and diabetes which increases a woman's chances of giving birth through Cesarean section.

6. Meditation and relaxation

Meditation and relaxation can help improve a woman's chances of a normal delivery. Changing positions, getting a massage and listening to music are great ways to better facilitate normal delivery and prevent Cesarean section.
