'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 2 Spoilers: Cast & Creators Spill Details On Aquatic Zombies, Crossover With 'The Walking Dead'

Season 1 of “Fear the Walking Dead” only consisted of six episodes. The premiere garnered massive ratings, which inspired AMC to renew the show for a second season.

AMC announced that “Fear the Walking Dead” Season 2 will launch on April 10, 2016, writes Cinema Blend. "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 1 premiered on Aug. 23, 2015 and the finale aired on Oct. 4. "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 2 will reportedly have more episodes, which may explain the earlier release compared to the first season.

Based on a number of teasers previously provided by AMC, "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 2 is expected to feature more drama and action. One promo video showcased several zombies and survivors, particularly aquatic zombies. They cannot swim but can wade and move in water, which will add to the intensity and threat of the upcoming season.

Griselda Salazar is the only main character who died before the "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 1 finale. Liza was also shot in the head by Travis before she could turn, which means that she will not return as a living character. There may be flashbacks sometime in the future. Overall, viewers can expect all of the survivors to continue up to a certain episode in "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 2.

IGN reported that executive producer Dave Erickson said that there will be no crossovers between “Fear the Walking Dead” and the other AMC show “The Walking Dead.” Erickson explained that the difference in both the geography and timeline makes it impossible for the characters of the two shows to meet.

“The chronology is so far apart, and there’s a continent between them,” Erickson said. He added that “The Walking Dead” is also more difficult to make, by getting inspiration from the comics, as well as creating fresh content.

As for “Fear the Walking Dead,” the producer said that they have more leeway in creating the story, as long as they do not create new zombie rules. Executive producer Gale Ann Hurd also said that they cannot return to the same scenes and events that were shown in “The Walking Dead,” as well as those in the comics.
