5 Ways On How To Raise A Spiritual Child

Parents with deep faith often put a lot of effort into a child's spiritual development, as it is never too early to realize a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. Here are ideas on how to raise a spiritual child that will hopefully lay the foundation for their own set of beliefs.

1.     Show them your own spirituality

The responsibility for creating spiritual people lies primarily with parents. How parents live speaks greatly to kids about what is important which is why it will help to show them your own spirituality.

Start by praying together as a family especially before dinner every night when the whole family comes together. At some point, you can ask your little one to take the lead in prayer once in awhile. Talking about your own religious beliefs also gives parents a great opportunity to teach kids about faith.

2.     Use everyday events

Big ideas do not always mean a need for big actions, according to Baby Center. Spiritually can be demonstrated in daily actions and words by saying, "God bless you, sweetheart" or "Look at this beautiful day Mother Nature has made!"

3.     Tell stories

Spiritual beliefs are full of stories that young children can easily understand. Read stories together from a Children's Bible, a collection of Jewish folk tales or even a book of Hindu mythology and give your child the opportunity to ask questions regarding the wealth of literature.

4.     Teach gratitude

Gratitude will always be a time-honored spiritual path that works regardless of one's beliefs. When children learn about gratitude, the greater they are able to appreciate, receive and get more out of life.

5.     Make them contribute to a community

Many people think that a church is a place where people go to hear sermon. However, the biblical concept of a church is that it represents being part of a community, according to Parents.

Being part of a community is where many children experience the joy and the love of God. The pride of contributing to a better society also allows children to make a positive difference in the world that they can hopefully enjoy and learn from.
