'Finding Dory' Release Date, News & Update: Film Will Introduce Dory's Childhood Friend; Who Is Destiny?

For those who love the animated film "Finding Nemo," a sequel is on the way and, this time, the film will unveil Dory's story. "Finding Dory" will take you under the sea and explore the character's childhood memories.

"Finding Dory" is the much anticipated sequel to "Finding Nemo." It takes place six months after the first film where Dory recalls her childhood memories. Per Christian Post, the blue tang is friendly but forgetful. On her journey to find her home and family, she will come face to face with a childhood friend.

You might not believe it, but Dory's best friend in "Finding Dory" is a whale shark named, Destiny. But before you judge Destiny, you should know her first. Director Andrew Stanton revealed to USA Today that the shark is as cheery as she is big.

"She's this huge, huge friendly personality. I love that (Dory's) got the largest best friend ever," Stanton said.

According to Stanton, Dory and Destiny were childhood friends but they grew up in different marine life institute. "It's like the kid you knew in summer camp and but you haven't seen them since," Stanton explained. "They could only speak to each other through the pipes, like kids sending letters to each other or (talking) through cans with string."

Christian Today notes that, aside from Destiny, Dory will also meet Bailey the white beluga whale and Hank the octopus in "Finding Dory." Dory, together with Nemo and Marlin, will arrive at the Monterey Marine Life Institute after remembering about the jewel of Monterey, California.

Meanwhile, The Global Dispatch reported that "Finding Dory" is down with one character because Michael Sheen's character has been cut. "I got a phone call saying I'm not in that (Finding Dory) any more, they cut me out," Sheen told Magic Radio.

The actor was very sad that he is no longer part of "Finding Dory" because he was a huge fan of "Finding Nemo."

"Finding Dory" stars Ellen DeGeneres as Dory. Ed O'Neill as Hank, Ty Burrell as Bailey and Kaitlin Olsen as Destiny.

Idris Elba and Dominic West are also part of "Finding Dory" but there voicing characters have yet to be revealed.

"Finding Dory" will hit the big screens on June 17, 2016.
