Beyonce is doing a great job raising awareness for this disease as well, as she is brave enough to hire models like Mercado for her first Formation campaign. This is not the first modeling gig that Mercado has booked, as she was the face of Diesel Jeans in 2014.

For those who are not aware of muscular dystrophy, Mayo Clinic said that it is a disease affecting the muscles of the body. It weakens the muscles until it eventually loses its ability to move or function. This is why people suffering from it could lead to disability when it comes to walking. Some people even find it difficult to breathe or swallow food.

Unfortunately, no cure has been found for this disease as of the moment. However, therapy and some treatment could alleviate the situation of those stricken by it.
